Brazil Win World Cup

Switzerland entered the final of Dubai 2009 as only the second-ever debutant at beach soccer's premier competition to make it that far, but their good fortune ran out tonight. In their second final against European opposition, Brazil looked as untroubled as ever.

Nico was there to save as Bueno tried his luck, but a close-range overhead kick from Andre gave Brazil the lead. Before long, Andre and Buru added more. Swiss captain Mo Jaeggy bundled one past Mao, but was quickly answered by Daniel and then Buru, whose long blast slipped in despite close attention.

Benjamin's rocket of a direct kick smacked the underside of the crossbar on its way in. Stankovic, for his part, was as yet invisible and looking a bit uncomfortable, as Brazil went close again and again. Andre and Betinho then piled more misery on the newcomers. The Swiss battled bravely, becoming the first side to notch more than three goals against the Brazilians in a final, but there was little more to hope for as the masters of the beach imposed their will.

This was Benjamin, Betinho, Buru, Mao, Sidney and Andre's fourth appearance in the finals of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup and it was a memorable one for their side, as the awe-inspiring Brazilians became the beach soccer champions of the world for the fourth time in a row
