Van Gaal praises Dortmund

Bayern Munich head coach Louis van Gaal has heaped praise on Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund following their clash on Saturday afternoon.

Bayern won the game 3-1 and have now secured nine successive league wins, but van Gaal was full of admiration for the visitors, who pushed them all the way.

The German giants continue to put pressure on table-toppers Bayer Leverkusen, who lead the way virtue of goal difference.

Van Gaal said: "It was a hard-earned victory. It was very difficult for us and we needed a bit of luck, which perhaps we forced.

"We were fortunate with (Mark) van Bommel's goal. I am happy with the win because I think that Dortmund played very well, were tactically excellent and showed a lot of aggressiveness."
