Van Gaal blasts Bayern

Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal was harsh in his appraisal of his side's display in a 2-1 weekend defeat at Mainz.

The Bavarian giants have yet to register a victory in the Bundesliga this season and Dutchman van Gaal was worried by what he witnessed at the Stadion am Bruchweg.

He told the club's official website: "You just can't start the way we did, that was the problem.

"We tried to put it right in the second half, but that's always too late in football.

"You have to get going from the first minute. I'm asking myself what we did wrong in our preparations. What I'll do now is work hard and support the players."
