Van Gaal: We threw points away

Coach Louis van Gaal accused his Bayern Munich players of throwing away three points after losing 2-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday evening.

Bayern slipped to their first defeat in 20 league matches after conceding two goals in the final four dramatic minutes of the match.

"I think we threw the game away by ourselves," said van Gaal.

"I did not see an impressive FC Bayern. We lost possession too often in the midfield and that meant our defence came under more and more pressure."

Bayern remained top of the table after Schalke were held to a 2-2 draw by Hamburg on Sunday and midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger added: "This is certainly a setback for us.

"We have got to ensure we start picking up points away from home again quickly.

"If you want to win the league, you have got to also win away."
