Van Gaal: Progress is 50-50

Bayern Munich head coach Louis van Gaal says that his side have a 50-50 per cent chance of reaching the Champions League quarter-finals.

A narrow 2-1 win gives Bayern a slender advantage to take to Fiorentina for the second leg of their round of 16 tie, with van Gaal admitting that his side were lucky to see a late winner allowed to stand, despite Miroslav Klose being clearly offside when he headed home.

The Dutchman said: "We won, which is what matters. Fiorentina were extremely clever tactically, they changed their system and we failed to find an answer.

"We finally put it in the net at the end, but it was clearly offside, so we've been a bit lucky.

"We're a goal ahead and it'll be difficult in Florence, but we have a 50-50 chance, or maybe just a little more than that."
