Van Buyten aiming to stay

Daniel van Buyten is hoping to pledge his long-term future to Bayern Munich by signing a new contract.

The 30-year-old Belgian defender still has 18 months remaining on his existing deal at the Allianz Arena, but has urged the club to start talks over a new contract in the coming weeks.

He said: "I feel really good here in Munich and for me leaving is just not option.

"I would be delighted if the club showed signs of wanting to extend my contract.

"If the club are happy with me, then I am open to a new deal.

"I think that the future here looks very bright. We have our eyes on the title and also want to challenge for the Champions League."
