Van Bommel wants to miss Barca

Bayern Munich midfielder Mark van Bommel was delighted with his side's progress into the Champions League quarter-finals following their narrow success over Fiorentina.

The Dutchman scored one of Bayern's goals in the 3-2 defeat on the night and now wants to avoid the all-conquering Barcelona in the next stage.

"It was a hard game in curious weather," he said. "There was a lot of wind which troubled both teams. It went in our favour in the second half but helped Fiorentina's goal too.

"Now we just have to get lucky as well with the draw. There are a lot of outside things that decide whether you go through or not, like playing the first game home or away.

"I just don't want to play against Barcelona."

Meanwhile, striker Mario Gomez has been ruled out for up to three weeks after suffering a torn calf muscle in Florence.
