New Bayern Munich signing Anatoliy Tymoshchuk could be set for an extended spell in the first team after captain Mark van Bommel's injury.
The Dutch international picked up a toe problem in the Bundesliga opener against Hoffenheim at the weekend and to make matters worse, he was caught on camera shoulder charging Isaac Vorsah to the ground.
Referee Babak Rafati missed the incident and Bayern president Franz Beckenbauer condemned the actions of the club captain.
Speaking to Sky, he said: "Scenes like that may belong to American Football, but not to football."
Now Ukrainian international Tymoshchuk has an opportunity to cement a place in the starting line-up after his summer move from Zenit St Petersburg.
"I am now even more motivated and will do all I can to get my position in the team," he declared.
