Tymoshchuk set for Bayern

Bayern Munich general manager Uli Hoeness has revealed they have held an "informative chat" with Zenit St Petersburg captain Anatoliy Tymoshchuk.

The Ukraine international midfielder is reported to be on the verge of joining the Bundesliga champions in January after travelling to Munich for a medical last weekend.

However, Hoeness expects the deal for the defensive midfielder to be completed at the end of the current season.

"We had a very informative chat," he confirmed.

"It is not about fetching the player this winter. We are talking about next summer.

"There are still a few things to clear up and the player would like a bit of time to think."

Meanwhile, Hoeness has also dropped a major hint that unsettled Germany striker Lukas Podolski will be on his way back to former club Cologne at the end of the campaign.

Podolski, who has been linked with several Premier League clubs in England, has asked to be transfer listed following a lack of first-team action.

"I can well imagine him leaving at the end of the season," continued Hoeness.

"If we can find a replacement for him, I believe we will be able to grant his wish of going to Cologne."
