Toni set to miss Italy games

Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni is unlikely to recover from injury in time to feature in Italy's forthcoming World Cup qualifying double-header. The Azzurri take on Montenegro and Ireland on March 28 and April 1 respectively but are likely to do so without their star striker. Toni has been sidelined for three weeks with an Achilles injury and Bayern coach Jurgen Klinsmann has urged his international counterpart Marcello Lippi to be patient with the striker's recovery. The 31-year-old hitman is now expected to be left out of Lippi's squad when it is announced at the weekend.
