Sammer backs Loew to stay on

Former Germany international Matthias Sammer is convinced that Joachim Loew will remain in charge of the national team.

Loew's current contract with the DFB (German Football Association) is due to expire at the end of June, midway through this summer's World Cup finals.

Negotiations over a new contract have stalled but the DFB's current technical director Sammer is confident that a compromise can be reached.

He told DSF: "The signals are clear. They are clear both from him and from us within the association. We all want him to stay Germany coach, so I expect him to carry on."

Loew replaced Jurgen Klinsmann after the 2006 World Cup and guided the Germany team to the Euro 2008 Final where they lost to Spain.
