Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery is set to be deployed in a new role by manager Louis van Gaal.
The France international is to be tried out as a central playmaker, occupying a position behind Bayern's strikers.
Mirsolav Klose, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Thomas Muller have all failed to impress in the position, causing van Gaal to turn to his star player as the transfer kitty at the Allianz Arena is empty.
Despite admitting he would prefer to be left out on the wing, Ribery insisted he is happy to give the new role a go.
"I will try out the number 10 position and see how it goes," the midfielder told Sport Bild.
"I will trust the view of our experienced coach, who sees me playing there."
Despite an injury-plagued start to the new season, Ribery is hopeful of featuring in Bayern's home clash with Bundesliga champions Wolfsburg this weekend.
