Bayern Munich's Croatia striker Ivica Olic is facing a lengthy spell out of action after sustaining a knee injury while on international duty.
The 30-year-old has been told to rest after being injured against Slovakia, with the German giants waiting to see whether an operation will be necessary.
Head coach Louis van Gaal told the club's official website: "It's a nasty diagnosis.
"The doctor has decided on a conservative course of treatment, so there won't be an operation, but that always takes a long time.
"Our chief medical officer, Dr Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt, has sent him on vacation.
"That will give him peace and quiet. I hope he will be able to resume training after that."
