Olic denies Ribery claims

Bayern Munich striker Ivica Olic has denied making comments suggesting that his club could drop Franck Ribery if he refuses to sign a new contract at the Allianz Arena.

Olic rubbished quotes attributed to him in the Vecernji newspaper and added that there is no friction between Ribery and Bayern head coach Louis van Gaal.

A statement released on behalf of Olic by Bayern read: "There is nothing, absolutely nothing right with these quotes.

"These remarks which I am supposed to have said are completely invented.

"They only spoke to me after the Bundesliga game against Mainz on Saturday, in the frenzied atmosphere of the Allianz Arena.

"I told them that Franck Ribery is one of the best footballers in the world, but that he has been out for three months and is therefore not playing yet.

"I said nothing more and nothing less than that."
