Bayern Munich's director of sport, Christian Nerlinger, has rejected claims that the club were interested in signing Germany international duo Mesut Ozil and Sami Khedira in the summer.
Ozil left Werder Bremen and Khedira departed Stuttgart with Real Madrid prising the pair from the Bundesliga but, despite media rumours linking Bayern to their signatures, Nerlinger has poured cold water on the suggestions.
"We did not get to the stage where we wanted to talk to them or even make an offer because we were not convinced that they would make it to the top level," he said.
"If FC Bayern wants a player, then we are absolutely capable of signing him or keeping hold of him.
"We are 100 per cent convinced with (Toni) Kroos in the attacking midfield position and (Thomas) Muller has risen like a shooting star in that position."
