Lahm and club in peace talks
10 Nov 2009 - 07:36:48
Bayern Munich have announced that they have held clear the air talks with outspoken defender Philipp Lahm after his tirade at the weekend.
Club officials Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Uli Hoeness, Karl Hopfner and Christian Nerlinger are believed to have encouraged the diminutive Germany international to discuss his opinions with appropriate officials at the club in the future.
Italian striker Luca Toni has also landed himself in hot water following his own weekend spat.
Toni was substituted at half-time during their 1-1 draw with Schalke on Saturday and has since been fined along with Lahm.
The full-back found himself in trouble after saying: "If you want to measure yourself with Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester United, you, as Bayern Munich, need a philosophy.
"On an continental level you need at least eight players who have learned to play their position, who are confident and competitive. I don't see these eight players here.
"I was raised at the club and Munich are dear to me - that's why I am outspoken. I think I am in a position to make these statements."
