Knee issue sidelines Ribery

Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has pulled out of the France squad for their must-win World Cup qualifiers against the Faroe Islands and Austria.

Ribery injured his left knee during the first half of Bayern's goalless Bundesliga draw with Koln on Saturday.

The 26-year-old was replaced at half-time and has joined fellow winger Arjen Robben on the sidelines.

France coach Raymond Domenech was hoping that Ribery would be a vital player in Les Bleus' upcoming key games as they look to qualify from their current second place behind Serbia in Group Seven.
