Klinsmann mounts striker hunt

Bayern Munich coach Jurgen Klinsmann has confirmed that his club are on the lookout for a new striker in the January transfer window.

Bayern already have Luca Toni, Miroslav Klose and Lukas Podolski at their disposal, but Klinsmann wants added firepower to aid the defence of the Bundesliga title.

He told Bild: "We have a lot of contacts with many people, because we speak to our scouting network on a regular basis.

"There are lots of talented players out there who we are keeping an eye on.

"It is not a terrible situation to go into the season with three strikers. We have also got Franck Ribery and Tim Borowski as alternatives, who can play in more advanced positions.

"We now have five or six weeks to see if it is necessary to do something. The board and I meet very regularly and we do talk about names, obviously."
