Bayern Munich coach Jurgen Klinsmann fears Willy Sagnol may be forced to retire due to injury.
The 31-year-old full-back has been out of action since rupturing his Achilles tendon during France's Euro 2008 defeat to the Netherlands back in June.
Speaking in December, Sagnol admitted his career was in jeopardy and Klinsmann has confirmed the future does not look good for the veteran defender.
"It looks bad," he said. "The injury is not co-operating. He has already seen several specialists to see whether he can carry on.
"He cannot train with us. He can hardly jog before he feels pain already.
"We have given him time and I am incredibly upset about it.
"This injury has been bothering him for long enough already and it has left its mark on Willy."
