Hoeness wants Ribery stay

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness believes the the club need to prove their Champions League credentials in order for star-man Franck Ribery to remain at the Allianz Arena.

The France international is strongly linked with a move to the Premier League and La Liga this summer despite insisting he is happy in Germany.

But Hoeness insists the Bavarians need to come up with the goods on the pitch to keep hold of their prize asset.

Bayern hold a slender 2-1 first-leg last-16 Champions League lead over Fiorentina following their success last week and Hoeness wants to see the job through in Italy.

He said: "Fiorentina were strong in the first leg fixture, but I was not amazed by their play.

"Why should we get afraid? We won that match. If we are advancing to the next round, doing a good job, seeing Franck playing well and he is grabbing that feeling, we have a chance at such a stage of the competition, then we have a better chance to see him remain.

"Should we lose out by three goals to nil, I would not bet on him staying on."
