Hitzfeld admits Bayern luck

Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld admitted Getafe were the better team and that his players rode their luck to reach the UEFA Cup semi-finals.

The tournament favourites found themselves 3-1 down to the Spanish side in extra-time of their quarter-final second leg, before two Luca Toni strikes in the final five minutes secured their nervy passage on the away goals rule.

"To come back from 3-1 down in extra-time was a fantastic performance" admitted Hitzfeld.

"That speaks volumes for the character of the team, but we also needed a little luck.

"I congratulate Getafe. They were sensational.

"They were on the point of causing a sensation and humiliating Bayern Munich. They were so close. They were the best team."
