Gomez told to stop talking

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has urged striker Mario Gomez to concentrate on his football, rather than verbal outbursts to the press.

The 24-year-old Germany international, a summer recruit from VfB Stuttgart, has scored three times in eight outings for Bayern, but is less than happy at being left on the bench twice in recent times.

However, Rummenigge told Welt am Sonntag: "I spoke with his agent a few days ago and told him to advise Mario to stop immediately with his complaining or misjudging things in any way.

"When you play for Bayern, you have got to work hard and give it your best.

"He will not only score goals, but he will play some fantastic football. At Bayern Munich, it is all about winning the battle which is in every game."
