Gomez fights for Bayern future

Bayern Munich's Germany international striker Mario Gomez insists that he is happy to remain at the Allianz Arena and fight for his place next season.

The 25-year-old former Stuttgart frontman scored 11 goals in 41 appearances in his first season with Bayern, but struggled to hold down a starting spot in the closing weeks of the campaign.

However, following talk of interest from French champions Marseille, Gomez told Bild: "I have made my position clear - there will be no transfer.

"I want to convince the coach that he will soon field me in his starting eleven. Hard work will be rewarded, I am sure about that."
