Butt extends Bayern stay

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Hans-Jorg Butt has penned a new one-year extension with the Bundesliga giants, keeping him at the Allianz Arena until June 2011.

The 35-year-old former Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen custodian joined from Benfica in 2008 to act as cover, but has figured as a first-team regular ahead of Michael Rensing this term.

His form has impressed coach Louis van Gaal enough for him to be rewarded with a new deal, securing his future with the Bavarian club.

Speaking to the club's official website, chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: "We are very happy with Jorg's performances and we are pleased that Bayern will be able to call on him for a further season."

Butt was also delighted to sign the new deal, adding: "I am very happy at Bayern and I am looking forward to continuing my successful time in Munich."
