Bayern win in title party

Newly-crowned champions Bayern Munich celebrated winning the Bundesliga title at the weekend with a 2-0 victory over Arminia Bielefeld on Wednesday.

Bayern wrapped up a 21st championship on Sunday before goals from Franck Ribery and Lukas Podolski gave the home fans more to cheer.

However, the defeat leaves struggling Arminia just a point above the relegation zone.

Elsewhere, second-placed Werder Bremen lost Frank Baumann and Jurica Vranjes to red cards but still secured a 1-0 win over Hamburg which confirmed their place in next season's Champions League.

Bayer Leverkusen's own UEFA Cup hopes took a knock as they slipped to a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Hertha Berlin.

Stefan Kiessling was sent off for the home side in what could prove a costly defeat.

Wolfsburg are now level on points with Leverkusen after Edin Dzeko's late winner earned Josef Eichkorn's side a priceless 3-2 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.

At the foot of the table, 16th-placed Nurnberg kept their survival hopes alive after a 2-0 win over fellow strugglers Duisburg, with Angelos Charisteas and Javier Pinola on the scoresheet.
