Bayern upbeat about Ribery
17 May 2010 - 08:05:49
Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is confident that Franck Ribery will stay at the club next season.
The France star has 12 months remaining on his existing contract and Bayern are desperate to tie him down to a long-term deal.
Ribery has continually stated he will only sign a new contract should the Bundesliga club show ambition and Rummenigge hopes their domestic double plus passage to the Champions League Final will persuade the £35million-rated winger that his future lies at the Allianz Arena.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City and Chelsea have all been linked with moves for Ribery during recent transfer windows.
"We will intensify our talks because I have the impression that Franck wants this decision to be made before the World Cup," said Rummenigge.
"I believe he has felt, particularly in the last few weeks, what affection and what quality this FC Bayern family has.
"He is totally happy here and we will try to turn that into a contract extension."
