Bayern to decide on Ribery

Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has insisted it will be the club who decides where playmaker Franck Ribery plies his trade next season.

With a whole host of European powerhouses rumoured to be pondering a swoop for the France international, Rummenigge has admitted that he would prefer Ribery to extend his stay at the Allianz Arena.

However, if new terms cannot be agreed, Bayern will cash in on the 26-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of next season.

"Our first goal is to sign a contract extension with him," Rummenigge told Kicker magazine. "But I will say this clearly - anyone who believes that we will sell Franck automatically at the end of the season if there is no extension is making an error.

"Bayern Munich will decide where Franck plays next season."
