    Bayern take swift action

    09 Nov 2009 - 11:29:28

Bayern Munich have disciplined Luca Toni and Philipp Lahm following their weekend break of club discipline.

Toni was substituted at half-time in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Schalke by coach Luis van Gaal and the Italy striker left the Allianz Arena without permission.

"With his unauthorised early departure from the Bundesliga match and the Allianz Arena on Saturday, Luca Toni committed an unacceptable breach of club discipline," read a club statement.

"The board has resolved to levy a substantial fine. In the meantime and notwithstanding the fine, Luca Toni has apologised for his behaviour to the club and his team-mates."

Meanwhile, Germany Lahm was critical of the club in a post-match interview.

Speaking about Lahm's outburst, chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge added: "Philipp has broken clearly-defined agreements.

"We are disappointed because, as our vice-captain, he fundamentally bears a special responsibility towards the team and the club.

"Philipp Lahm will be punished with a fine heavier than any levied before by FC Bayern Munich."
