Bayern step up compensation claim
11 Aug 2010 - 18:24:43
Bayern Munich claim that Arjen Robben should never have been allowed to play for the Netherlands at this summer's World Cup finals in South Africa.
The Bundesliga club are at odds with the KNVB (Dutch FA) as they say that the winger sustained the injury during the World Cup. The KNVB insist that is not the case.
However, Bayern president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told Bild: "We now have proof that Arjen sustained the hamstring injury ahead of the World Cup. He should never have played in South Africa with this injury.
"The injury was already there during the World Cup and is still there. It's our goal that the KNVB compensate us for Robben's injury. They should pay the player's wages during his injury absence."
