Bayern stay suits van Buyten

Bayern Munich defender Daniel van Buyten is in line to sign a new deal at the Bavarian giants following an exceptional run of form.

The Belgium international has received rave reviews and has also scored three times in 12 appearances in the Bundesliga to date.

Speaking to German newspaper TZ, Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: "Daniel has been outstanding this term. He was never as good as now ever since he joined Bayern."

Van Buyten was buoyant upon hearing the news and said: "I'd be more than happy to stay at Bayern.

"My heart is pounding for this club and I want to end my career at Bayern by winning some silverware in the upcoming years."
