Bayern stand down Ribery

Bayern Munich have been rocked by the news that star man Franck Ribery could be missing for a month. The 26-year-old has been struggling with a persistent knee injury since the start of the season and, after playing through the pain barrier, head coach Louis van Gaal is now resigned to losing the Frenchman. Following Bayern's 2-1 defeat against Bordeaux in the Champions League on Wednesday night, van Gaal said: "We've decided to let Ribery heal completely, but that could take up to a month." He has already been pencilled in for a return to the Bayern side for the clash against Bayer Leverkusen on November 22.
