Bayern seal Braafheid swoop

Bayern Munich have completed the signing of Dutch defender Edson Braafheid from FC Twente.

The 26-year-old left-back has signed a four-year contract to become incoming coach Louis van Gaal's seventh signing of the close season.

Braafheid turned down offers from PSV Eindhoven and Ajax to move to the Bundesliga.

"Braafheid was a player sought after by new coach Louis van Gaal and can play as a left-back as well as a centre-back," read a club statement.

"On Thursday morning he underwent a medical in Munich and afterwards signed a four-year contract until 30th June 2013."
