Bayern rule out Neuer swoop

Bayern Munich have distanced themselves from fresh rumours linking them with Germany international goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

Bayern are believed to be in the market for a new shot-stopper as they are keen for current first-choice keeper Hans-Jorg Butt to have more competition.

However, director of sport Christian Nerlinger told Spox that they are not interested in signing the Schalke keeper, saying: "There is no truth in it.

"We hold Manuel Neuer in high regard, but currently Hans-Jorg Butt is our starting goalkeeper.

"We are extremely pleased with Jorg's performances in goal and, as far as I am concerned, Manuel Neuer has a long-term deal at Schalke."
