A goalless draw at Wolfsburg was enough for Bayern Munich to regain the Bundesliga title and clinch a 21st league crown on Sunday afternoon.
The result left Bayern ten points clear of nearest rivals Werder Bremen with three games left to play and made up for the dismal UEFA Cup semi-final defeat by Zenit St Petersburg in midweek.
Coach Ottmar Hitzfeld, who will leave Bayern at the end of the season, told the club's official website: "It's been a unique season, because expectations were so high.
"The club spent heavily, so the pressure was immense, but winning the league makes it all worthwhile.
"I'm delighted for the club, because we're back to where we belong as number one in Germany."
In the day's other game, Duisburg moved off the foot of the table with a 3-2 home win over Bayer Leverkusen, with Blagoi Georgiev netting a dramatic last-minute winner.
