Bayern keen on Gomez deal

Bayern Munich have set their sights on signing VfB Stuttgart's star striker Mario Gomez this summer.

The 23-year-old Germany international scored 24 goals in the Bundesliga season just ended, rising to the top of Bayern's wish-list in the process.

General manager Uli Hoeness told DSF: "We will start talks next week and then we will see what comes of it.

"I would say he is a very interesting player and I am relatively optimistic."

Gomez has 33 goals in all competitions to his name this season, having also netted six times in the UEFA Cup and three times in the DFB-Pokal.
