Bayern fine unhappy Toni
26 Nov 2009 - 10:39:19
Striker Luca Toni has been fined 25,000 euros following his criticism of Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal.
The Italy striker was dropped from the squad that kept the Bundesliga side's Champions League hopes alive with a 1-0 victory over Maccabi Haifa on Wednesday night.
Toni was omitted after claiming his relationship with van Gaal was over following months of problems between the pair.
However, general manager Uli Hoeness claims the striker could still have a future at the Allianz Arena should he issue an apology to the Dutch coach.
"His comments are not acceptable," he said after the 1-0 European win which eased the pressure on an under-fire van Gaal.
"He has been given a total fine of 25,000 euros, but we are still waiting for an apology.
"Should one arrive, then I think he still has a chance here."
Bayern could still reach the last 16 of the Champions League should they overcome Juventus in their final Group A encounter.
