Bayern dismiss Lucio reports

Bayern Munich president Franz Beckenbauer has categorically dismissed rumours linking Lucio with a departure from the Allianz Arena.

The Brazil defender's future in Germany has been thrown into doubt following suggestions of a rift between himself and new coach Louis van Gaal.

However, Beckenbauer insists the 31-year-old centre-half will not be leaving the club this summer.

"I think the whole thing is based on misunderstandings," he said. "These should be dispelled quickly when all concerned are in Munich.

"Lucio is the captain of Brazil and our best defender. We should keep him."
