Bayern Munich have released a statement to confirm that Franck Ribery has always been a thorough professional while with the club. Former Bayern and West Germany legend Franz Beckenbauer had earlier questioned Ribery's conduct, amid continuing talk of interest from a number of clubs across Europe. Beckenbauer was quoted as saying: "He only came to Bayern to make his name. He is a Frenchman and does not give a damn about Bayern." A later statement from Bayern read: "The Bayern Munich board would like to make it clear that it is surprised with the statement by Franz Beckenbauer published in the media regarding Franck Ribery. "The board would like to make it clear that Ribery has always been a professional in his behaviour. "Bayern have never had the impression that Ribery signed for the club only for the benefit of his career. He has always put his skills at the team's service."
