Bayern close in on title

Bayern Munich continued their march towards the Bundesliga title by beating Eintract Frankfurt 3-1 on Wednesday.

Benjamin Kohler caused Bayern hearts to flutter by firing his side into a 30th-minute lead, but Daniel van Buyten equalised and two Luca Toni strikes extended their lead over the chasing pack to ten points.

Meanwhile, outgoing champions Stuttgart continued their resurgence with a 3-0 win over rock-bottom Nurnberg.

Cacau, Antonio da Silva and Fernando Meira scored the goals which took Stuttgart to within touching distance of the Champions League places.

Borussia Dortmund slipped to a 3-1 defeat at home to Hannover as they warmed up for this weekend's cup final in disappointing fashion.

Towards the foot of the table, Duisburg remain deep in trouble after a 1-0 defeat at home to Karlsruhe with Tamas Hajnal scoring for the visitors.

Elsewhere, Arminia Bielefeld climbed out of the drop zone following a narrow 1-0 success over Bayer Leverkusen.
