Bayern chief sounds warning

Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has warned Bayern Munich not to write off Hoffenheim's title chances despite Friday's 2-1 win over the surprise Bundesliga leaders.

Luca Toni's last-minute strike moved the reigning champions level on points with Hoffenheim at the top of the table, but Rummenigge believes last season's Bundesliga 2 runners-up will not give up top spot lightly.

"We aimed to win and go into the last match before Christmas on a par with Hoffenheim. That's what's happened and I'm pleased about it," he said.

"It was a terrific match between two terrific teams. The game exceeded expectations.

"We have a lot of hard work ahead if we're to finish above Hoffenheim this season. This team will match us all the way in the title race."
