Bayern Munich's Belgian centre-back Daniel Van Buyten declared on Thursday that he hopes to be fit in time for the Champions League final against Chelsea at Bayern's Allianz Arena on May 19.
Van Buyten returned to training on Thursday after fracturing a metatarsal bone in his left foot in January and could be drafted into Bayern's line-up for the final to cover for the suspended Holger Badstuber.
"It's a target and a motivation, even though it's not easy," said Van Buyten.
"I'll do everything and we'll see if it's enough."
If he does not feature in Bayern's final Bundesliga game at Cologne on Saturday, Van Buyten could return to action in the German Cup final against Borussia Dortmund in Berlin on May 12.
The 34-year-old has extended his contract to June 2013.
He joined Bayern from Hamburg in 2006 and has played 133 league games for the club, scoring 19 goals.
