Sharp rise in demand for Bayern tickets

Bayern Munich said Wednesday there has been a sharp rise in ticket requests to see Pep Guardiola's European champions play at home this season -- especially against rivals Borussia Dortmund.

Having become the first German club to win the treble of European, league and cup titles last season, Bayern have reported a 45 percent rise in ticket requests with ex-Barcelona boss Guardiola taking over as head coach last month.

The new Bundesliga starts on August 9 when Bayern host Borussia Moenchengladbach at the Allianz Arena, which has a capacity of 71,000, and the Bavarian giants have so far received at least 100,000 ticket requests for each of their 17 home games.

Already 245,000 applications have been received for the home match against Dortmund, which is scheduled for the weekend of April 12, in a repeat of May's Champions League final when Arjen Robben's late goal sealed a 2-1 win in Wembley.

Bayern have also received 77,000 requests from their fans for the away match against Borussia in Dortmund on the weekend of November 23.
