Robert Lewandowski Nets Double As Bayern Munich Restore Eight-point Lead

Bayern Munich shrugged off their injury problems with a 3-1 win at Augsburg restoring their eight-point cushion at the top of the Bundesliga on Sunday.

Robert Lewandowski dislodged Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the top of the goalscoring chart with his 20th and 21st goals of the season, in only the 21st game.

Thomas Muller added Bayern's third with his 86th Bundesliga goal and 15th of the current, his most prolific season.

A late Raul Bobadilla consolation was purely cosmetic as Bayern, who suffered another injury setback on Saturday when centre-back Holger Badstuber broke an ankle in training, asserted their authority on the Bundesliga once again.

In Sunday's other fixture, Hamburg ended a six-game wait for a win by beating Borussia Monchengladbach 3-2 at home.

Fabian Johnson put the Foals in front, but a Martin Hinteregger own goal and Artjoms Rudnevs strike turned the game around before half-time.

Ivo Ilicevic added a third with 10 minutes to go and, although Raffael made it 3-2 in the 88th minute, there was no time for Gladbach to find an equaliser.
