Robben set to extend Bayern stay

World Cup finalist Arjen Robben has said he is set to sign a contract extension to keep the Dutch star at Bayern Munich, with the German league set to resume on Friday.

Bundesliga leaders Bayern are at fourth-placed Borussia Moenchengladbach on Friday and Robben says he is set to sign an extension at the Bavarian giants with his current contract set to expire in June 2013.

"It's a formality," Robben told Munich newspaper the Sueddeutsche Zeitung.

"If there were five or ten clubs interested, which were bigger than Bayern, then you could say: perhaps I have a different goal, but Bayern are up there and belong with the best clubs in the world."

Robben has been a big hit at Bayern since he joined from Real Madrid in August 2009, but injuries have set him back repeatedly and he has made just eight league appearances and four goals this season.
