Robben admits latest dive was 'stupid'

Bayern Munich forward Arjen Robben has issued an apology after labelling one of his trademark tumbles in the penalty area 'stupid'.

Already a target of Bayern's fans for his propensity for injury, Robben has also gained some notoriety for falling all too easily upon contact with other players.

On December 11 Stuttgart defender Claudio Molinari was red-carded following two tackles on Robben as Bayern went on to claim a 2-1 away victory.

After that match Robben came under fire for over-acting, with Stuttgart striker Martin Harnik hitting out: "Robben is the kind of player who is already on his way down before you even touch him."

After Bayern's 2-1 victory over Bochum in the German Cup on Tuesday -- during which the Dutchman was handed a yellow card in the 41st minute for simulation -- the Dutchman held up his hands.

"It was stupid. It was probably a penalty, but I should have fallen earlier. I shouldn't do things like that, and I apologise," said Robben, who had been tackled by a Bochum defender prior to falling theatrically to the ground.

The 27-year-old made up for that faux pas by scoring the game's winning goal in the first minute of second-half injury time to send Bayern into the quarter-finals.
