Werder Bremen's Peru striker Claudio Pizarro will return to Bayern Munich for next season after signing a one-year contract with the Bavarian giants.

"We're delighted we've been able to sign Claudio Pizarro, an internationally experienced and very prolific forward," said Bayern's director of football Christian Nerlinger.

The South American will be Bayern's fourth new signing for next season alongside Basel midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri, Moenchengladbach centre-back Dante and Hoffenheim goalkeeper Tom Starke.

This will be Pizarro's second stint at Bayern after six seasons in Munich between 2001 and 2007, when they won the Cup and League double in 2003, 2005 and 2006.

Pizarro holds the Bundesliga record for most goals by a foreign player, having found the net 160 times in 333 matches.
