Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: Bayern taking Arsenal 'very seriously' despite Euro form

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge admits it is 'a bit odd' to see Arsenal at the bottom of their Champions League group, but says his side have every intention of leaving them there on Tuesday night.

Speaking as he and the club's sponsors and guests departed for London on Monday morning, a day after Pep Guardiola and his team flew to England, Rummenigge told reporters that the Bundesliga side have clear aims this week and cannot be lenient on their hosts.

"We've played two wonderful matches to start (the group) with, getting six points and scoring eight goals without conceding, and we simply want to confirm that in England," Rummenigge said, quoted on his club's website.

"We want to get points out of this game in London and the return in Munich to get what we want, which is top spot.

"We want to play a good game there and get something, although we know it is not going to be easy."

The Gunners' poor start to their European campaign is in stark contrast to their Premier League form, which Rummenigge says is the more veritable indication of how strong Arsene Wenger's side are.

"We're taking them very, very seriously," he said. "It is a bit odd to see them at the bottom of the group.

"They are second in the Premier League and that is proof enough that Arsenal have got quality."

Arjen Robben was not even on the second flight taking a Bayern delegation to London as he instead continues work on his comeback from injury back in Bavaria.
