Jerome Boateng has spoken out about what Lionel Messi did to him

08 May 2015 16:01

It was sensational. It was thrilling. It was goosebump-raising – unless you were Jerome Boateng.

We’re of course speaking about the goal Lionel Messi scored on Wednesday against Bayern Munich, where with the slightest shift of his body Messi left Boateng on the floor, and the ball in the net.

At the time we were all too shocked by what we’d seen from Messi to really focus on Boateng’s role, but it didn’t take long before we did. The internet exploded.

Understandably, Boateng wasn’t too happy with the attention he received. After all, he’s a top centre-back playing for one of the world’s best clubs. And it was the world’s best player that reduced him to a heap on the floor, not some Sunday League trickster.

He’s taken to Instagram to vent his frustrations, presumably about the attention he received because of Messi, but he could equally feel under appreciated in general.

Mmm. Much wise. Such cryptic. So apologise.

We thought we’d go against the grain, belatedly, and broadcast some of his success.

Boateng has won the FA Cup with Manchester City – although he wasn’t in the squad for the final… so here’s a picture of him against Notts County.

He’s also won three Bundesliga’s. Here’s him pouring beer over Mario Gomez.

Boateng can count three domestic cups in Germany amongst his trophy haul, as well as the holy grail – the Champions League.

Oh yeah. There was also the World Cup last summer, wasn’t there?

Boateng will no doubt now be deleting that post. You’re welcome.
