Germany Starlet Joshua Kimmich Set To Be Rested By Bayern Munich Against Schalke

Joshua Kimmich is set to be left out of Bayern Munich's team for their Bundesliga fixture versus Schalke on Friday night with coach Carlo Ancelotti concerned about overdoing things with the 21-year-old.

Kimmich scored his first goal for Germany in a 3-0 win over Norway last Sunday and Ancelotti now has other options at his disposal in midfield, which is why he favours giving Kimmich a rest on Friday.

Bayern get their Champions League campaign underway at home to Rostov on Tuesday and the Germany international now appears more likely to feature in that game.

"Kimmich is a fortunate player in that he can play in many positions, but probably I am going to rotate," Ancelotti said at a press conference on Thursday.

"I don't want to burn my players out straight away. He will get his chance and I'm going to need all of my players."

With Kimmich likely to be rested, Renato Sanches could make his Bundesliga debut.

"He could start tomorrow, but I first need to check on the position of Arturo Vidal," said Ancelotti of his options to partner Xabi Alonso in midfield.

"Sanches is 100% fit. Arturo has just returned (from international duty) today and I think he will fly with us to Schalke, but I don't know yet if he's too tired or if he can play."
