Franck Ribery says Bayern can lift the Champions League trophy this year

Franck Ribery is confident that Bayern Munich can go all the way to the Champions League title this year, assessing in an interview published on Thursday that the current side is the best he has experienced.

"It's the best Bayern team I've played in," the 29-year-old France midfielder was quoted as saying by the German daily Bild. "We're stronger than we've been for a long time."

Bayern are currently 15 points clear of last season's Bundesliga and German Cup holders Borussia Dortmund and this week beat Arsenal 3-1 in their Champions League last 16 first leg tie, putting them on course for a quarter-final spot.

Ribery said the Bavarian giants were even stronger this year than the side that won the league and cup double in his first season in Germany in 2008, calling the team "more mature, more experienced" with excellent players and strength in depth.

"Winning the (Champions League) title isn't just a dream," said Ribery, who has twice experienced the disappointment of losing out at the final stage -- in 2010 against Inter Milan and last year against Chelsea.

The former Marseille playmaker also said that Bayern feared no-one if they were to make it through.

"Honestly, I can't see any problem if we've got to play Barcelona in the next round," he said in the interview.

Barcelona were beaten 2-0 away to AC Milan on Wednesday.
